Let's talk about you and me
Created and run by Mary Koster, MK Design Haus is a small graphic design studio currently located north of Baltimore. Mary Koster has been working in the print graphic design field for about 15 years while freelancing on the side for a large part of that time. This web site is a culmination of professional, educational, and personal projects to showcase her abilities, talents, and skills. She works diligently to provide the quality and results needed to keep her clients satisfied. In addition, she works in conjunction with other designers and developers in various parts of the country to expand the studios capabilities to create a full-service and well-rounded design shop.
The studio's name was picked in tribute to Mary's recent research into her family lineage. Both sides of her family were surprisingly recent immigrants of Germany, yet none of the culture had been passed down from one generation to the next. Stories of life in Germany gathered from the remaining family members, prompted Mary to create a company name and design style that acknowledged her family's ancestry. The branding of MK Design Haus is mainly inspired by Mary's love of clean, striking designs like those from the Bauhaus School of Design, Gerhard Richter, Jan Tschichold, and Otl Aicher to name a few.
